Dr. Freddy DeAngelis

(Current) Associate at McKinsey & Company ::: (Former) Ph.D. Student

Biography

Freddy completed his B.S. in mechanical engineering at Clemson University. While at Clemson, he participated in several research projects, including the synthesis of nanoparticle bilayers, characterization of fluid flow and heat transfer in metal foams, modeling heat explosions in airplane wings, and an honors research project modeling and reducing the energy use of buildings. He has also interned with Clemson’s facility department, working to both model building energy use on campus and perform feasibility studies of installing a biomass plant and solar canopies. Freddy started in the ASE research group at Georgia Tech in 2013. He initially worked on liquid metal CSP during his masters degree, performing simulations and experimental work on liquid metal based solar receivers. He later during his Ph.D. worked on studying the normal modes in amorphous polymers. After finishing with his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering at Georgia Tech in 2019, he went on to work as a consultant with Mckinsey.
