Biography
Dr. Pishahang joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering at MIT as a Research Scientist in 2018. Prior to MIT, he was a Research Scientist in SINTEF (Oslo, Norway) from 2012 to 2018, where he worked on Sustainable Energy Technologies in close collaboration and partnership with some of the most influential international chemical and energy companies from Europe, China and the Middle East. He holds B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from Sharif University of Technology (Tehran, Iran) in Metallurgical Engineering (2001–2005), and Materials Engineering (2005–2008), respectively, and his Ph.D. degree in Materials Chemistry (2008–2012) from University of Oslo (Oslo, Norway).
At ASE research group Dr. Pishahang’s research focuses on development of crucial components used in high temperature thermal, thermochemical and electrochemical energy conversion and storage systems. As a senior member of the group, he oversees and manages the research activities in the ASE lab at MIT–31–380. He also acts as the MIT project manager for a number of MIT projects including the DOE pyrolysis project, DOE Solar-thermal projects focusing on concentrated solar through molten salt circulation, as well as ARPA-E projects focusing on development of a novel grid level thermal energy storage/conversion and the novel triple-phase flow battery.
